Exceptional Children's Week | March 3 through 7, 2025
Each grade learned about these differences & disabilities:
- Kindergarten: Visually impairment
- First: Orthopedic impairment (Limb differences)
- Second: Deaf and hard of hearing
- Third: Learning disabilities (Dyslexia/Dysgraphia)
- Fourth: Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Fifth: Down Syndrome/Intellectual disability
Schedule
- MONDAY (Digital Learning Day): Purchase an item off the existing shared Amazon wish list of supplies for SPED teachers to use in the classroom.
- TUESDAY: PTA-sponsored Rise Coffee & Tea and assorted breakfast items in the PL room at 6:45am for all teachers and staff; Rise employs individuals with special needs.
- WEDNESDAY: Teachers will share a brief video provided by the Committee to their students, explaining their grade level difference or disability.
- THURSDAY: Watch the Will.I.Am What I Am video and write a positive “I am” statement on a label and post on hallway bulletin board paper by grade level
- FRIDAY: Visiting author (and Mt. Bethel parent), Victoria Inman
How can you support our exceptional children?
- Donate $1 on Friday, March 7 for Pajama Day! Funds will be used to purchase items for Murdock's sensory room.
- Engage in conversation with your children! Ask your children what new or interesting facts they learn each day about the differences or disabilities listed above.
- Encourage your children to check out a book from the library about a difference or disability.
